Old. And New. The juxtaposition is a familiar one. What starts out as a study of the ephemeral nature and frailty of human life ends up in a contemplation of the permanence of what we leave behind; as well as a realization that "plus ça change..." - the more things change, the clearer it becomes that the base elements stay the same, even over centuries. The Tower of London and a modern office building thus represent more than what they at first appear to be.
