About This Work
The older couple riding their bicycles in a cloudy meadows landscape in The Netherlands could be an ambassador not only for that country, but also for the European ethic. The cyclists quietly make thewir way against the wind, as if to say "we carry on, in a grey world". In that sense, they are metaphorical for the human condition in a much more general sense.
