Las Vegas represents the upside of American life, but the cold realities of its underbelly reinforce the danger that is inherent in the Icarus-like proximity to the sun that this excess of America is, at its heart. Emblematic of the tension field between crime and punishment, this Bail Bonds office sits at the interjunction between the two world views. The dichotomy is further strengthened by the magazine stands, with both "Little Darlings, Totally Nude" and religious admonitions of coming shame.
