About This Work

When you say "New York" and you say "Art", you immediately think "The Chelsea Hotel". Source of much of the 20th century American art, from Dylan Thomas to Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol and Patti Smith, everything that happened in New York happened at the Chelsea Hotel. Immortalized by Leonard Cohen, if any place shouts "Art", it is The Chelsea. The photographer himself stayed there, and this photograph shows the dichotomy of art versus the stark reality of life in New York.
