About This Work
Who is the girl walking past us in Gamla Stan, old Stockholm's medieval district? We will never know. This image, through its leading lines and calculated distancing, captures the very essence of the time and place, without explicitly telling us explicitly about the significance of the female subject or the relationship between the urban environment and her. It evokes a certain idea of loneliness, distance, and the passage of time, and leaves us nostalgic for a past that has not yet happened.
